“We're on the cusp of some job growth, finally, finally,” said Stuart Hoffman, chief economist at PNC Financial Services Group.

The Labor Department report issued Friday cheered Wall Street, too. The Dow Jones surged 122 points, or about 1.2 percent.

But there's a long way to go. The recession eliminated about 8.4 million jobs. The slow-motion recovery means hiring is expected to remain feeble for the rest of the year – at most a net gain averaging about 100,000 a month.

To put that in perspective, about 125,000 new jobs are needed each month just to keep up with population growth and prevent the unemployment rate from rising.

To reduce the jobless rate significantly, employers would need to create 200,000 to 300,000 jobs a month. But most of them are waiting to see stronger sales, more spending by consumers and businesses, and a more vigorous global rebound to stimulate demand for U.S. goods and services.

Clifford Adkins of ARC Products LLC in suburban St. Louis, which makes gurneys to evacuate buildings, would like to hire. He said he doesn't need to see a prolonged boost in sales. He would hire if even a few of the government agencies and schools he serves step up spending.

But orders are falling. His cash flow just can't support new workers.

“I think if orders started coming in, I'd immediately start using that cash to put (salespeople) on the street,” he said.

Some encouraging signs that consumers are more willing to spend emerged in reports earlier this week. Shoppers hit the malls and spent more freely in February. And activity in both the manufacturing and services industries of the economy is growing.

The jobs picture is gradually brightening at a time when the U.S. economic rebound is faring better than Europe's. The 16 nations that use the euro currency scarcely grew in the fourth quarter, scratching out a 0.1 percent gain. Spain is suffering from 18.8 percent unemployment.

Still, the U.S. economy is lagging behind those in Asia. Economies such as China and South Korea largely escaped the downturn that followed the 2008 financial crisis. China's economy grew a sizzling 8.7 percent last year.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and most economists are forecasting only a modest rebound. That's why economists say it could take at least four years to restore the 8.4 million jobs wiped out by the worst recession since the 1930s. It could take even longer for the jobless rate to drop back down to a normal 5.5 percent to 6 percent.

Most economists had expected the unemployment rate to rise to 9.8 percent in February. In October, the rate hit 10.1 percent, a 26-year high. Some experts now think that might have marked the peak. Others note that if people who stopped looking for work resume their job searches, the rate could tick up.

In February, 1.2 million people abandoned their job searches – 473,000 more than did so in February a year ago.

All told, nearly 14.9 million Americans are now unemployed. That's nearly twice as many as when the recession began in December 2007.

Evidence of the fierce competition for jobs was seen in a rise in the so-called under-employment rate, which includes the unemployed, plus those who have given up looking for work and those who are working part-time but would prefer to work full-time. The under-employment rate rose to 16.8 percent, from 16.5 percent in January.

Doubts about last month's data arose because winter storms that pounded the Eastern half of the country occurred on the same week that the government surveys businesses about their payrolls.

Employees who could not make it to work and were not paid were not included on those payrolls. On the other hand, people who worked even one hour were counted as employed. That's the way the government has always calculated a net loss or gain in jobs.

Without the storms, the economy likely would have seen a net jobs gain in February for only the second time since the recession began.

Economists and investors were relieved that the job losses turned out to be just 36,000. That was larger than January's revised loss of 26,000 jobs, but it marked a huge improvement from last February, when employers slashed 726,000 jobs.

Anxiety over unemployment has intensified pressure on President Barack Obama and his Democratic Party in a congressional election year. Congress is close to completing legislation to give tax breaks to companies that hire the jobless.

Obama called the jobs report “better than expected.” Even so, he said the number of unemployed Americans is “more than we should tolerate” and pushed Congress to pass the jobs bill.

Economists worry about how the economy – and job creation – will fare once the government's stimulus spending ends later this year. The odds are low that the economy will slip back into recession. But Bernanke and other economists will not rule it out.

“Businesses are more cautious about hiring at this stage of the economic recovery compared to previous episodes,” said Sung Won Sohn, economist at California State University. “In an increasingly global economy facing steep competition, employers want to stay lean and mean.”

AP Business Writers Mae Anderson in New York, Christopher Leonard in St. Louis and Jordan Robertson in San Francisco contributed to this report.

How To Make A Lot Of Money And Generate Cash When You Are Broke … I used to buy a lot of cheap computer parts on UBID.com and EBAY.com and sold them to students who needed …

There is a lot of money to be made as a seller on eBay. Thousands and thousands of sales are made each day, resulting in a lot of income for a lot of sellers.

http://makemoneysellingonebay.net

Almost a year ago to the day, I purchased a small enamel on copper vase for about $50. It was dark maroon in color, with some people dressed in European attire adorning it. One of my friends, who is a dealer, came to my house because he needed merchandise for a show in Atlanta. To my surprise, he picked some higher priced items but when he saw the little enameled vase, asked if it would be okay to take it. First, I asked what he figured the vase would bring and the answer stopped me in my tracks. “Perhaps $900 or $1000.” “Sure you can” was my response and guess what, it sold at the show.

This has sent me on a quest for more enamel on copper and, as I am finding out, it seems that the sky is the limit for the value of these wares. Just checking eBay, I found one piece priced at $75,000 and many more from $3000 to $5000. I am sure that these are just the tip of the iceberg for Russian and French enameling. When you visit that next antique show to acquire more knowledge, be sure to look at as many enameled pieces as you can and examine each one for its detail and craftsmanship.

Why are you writing about enamel on copper today, you must be asking and here is the answer. I received a call from an old friend and he asked if it would be okay to drive over and show me four pictures that were enamel on copper and mounted in gold gilded frames. Of course you know my response. “Sure.” When he arrived, I was holding my breath because these could possibly be of any value. Entering the door, he had a rather small box which he opened to expose four miniature pieces measuring about 4 by 2 inches without the frames. However, even if they were small, the enameling was fantastic. All four were landscapes and the frames were real gold gilding. Needless to say I wanted them and soon asked the price. Once he quoted them to me, they had to be mine and sure enough they are. I will not sell them immediately because I would like to admire them for a few days, but yes, they will be for sale and yes, they will complete several, yes several, steps in our race compared to their cost. The race that I am referring to is the Million Dollar Race that I hope all the members of the Daryle Lambert's Antiques and Collectibles Club are participating in.

There are many books on enameling on Amazon but one that might interest you is Enameling on Precious Metals by Jeanne Werge-Hartley. It may help you to research this subject on Yahoo where I am sure you will find an abundance of information. Knowledge in this area will pay you back big time because there are so few that really know much about these items.

Apple Threatened Me With Legal Action For Selling a Broken Step From Their New York Store On eBay

Last week we posted an eBay auction where the seller—an ex-employee of Apple—was selling a broken step from the Fifth Ave New York Apple store. Threatened with legal action, he was forced to remove it. Here's his story.

Hi. Iʼm Mark Burstiner. I host a show called The Circuit. Iʼm an all around geek, Iʼm a project manager on a freelance basis, and I consult in digital strategy. I want to talk to you about a story thatʼs still unfolding.

It may seem trite, but for me, itʼs about the principle at this point. I also want to thank Gizmodo for taking this story, and allowing me to publish it in my own words. Multi billion dollar corporations should not be able to bully an innocent ex-employee into cooperation, especially when the corporations are at fault.

A year and a half ago, I was an Apple employee at the Fifth Ave flagship store. In that time, there was a silly, unfortunate accident. A woman came down the magnificent spiral staircase, and dropped a Snapple bottle. Yes, a Snapple bottle. After bouncing once or twice, the bottle severely cracked one of the steps. Since these steps are so well engineered, the structural integrity of the step wasn't compromised, but it was certainly a cosmetic problem. Later that month, four or five very big men came to replace the step with a new one. After they were finished, and the steps that were replaced were out on the curb, I left the store. Off the clock and in civilian clothes, I asked the contractors who were there on behalf of Seele, the manufacturer, if I could have a step. “It could be a collectible some day,” I said. They, of course, saw no problem with it, and even collectively helped me lift it into a vehicle. That is the story of how I came to be in possession of a step from the spiral staircase at Apple Fifth Ave.

Fast forward to six days ago, February 20, 2010. Iʼve been cleaning up my apartment, because Iʼm going to be moving soon, and I realized I really didn't want to move (for the third time) with this step. It should be about time I put it up on eBay, see if anybody wants it and see if I canʼt make some cash to help with moving at the same time. That makes sense, right? I mean people end up with rare memorabilia all the time. After all, I did procure it through totally legitimate means. I asked for permission from the person whoʼs possession it was in. They helped me lift it into the vehicle for chrissakes. We should be all hunky dory, right? Wrong.

The very next day, the eBay posting got a lot of press, and it even ended up here on the Giz. Not 24 hours later, the stair was up to $255, dozens of eBay questions, and 200+ watchers with 9 days to go on the auction. Things were looking good until I was reached out to by a Seele VP. This gentleman informed me that Apple has caught wind of this and is quite unhappy. He requested I remove the eBay listing so that we may work this out when we both had more time. Of course, Iʼm a reasonable guy, so I complied immediately.

Later that same day, we spoke again. He assured me he was doing me a favor by reaching out to me and requesting that I remove the posting and return the glass step. He repeatedly made the point that if I complied that he would be so kind as so email Apple and tell them Iʼve been cooperative. “Oh, how magnanimous of you,” I thought to myself. As tempting as it might be to relinquish what is now my property, I passed on the offer.

The VP continuously threatened me with “thousands of dollars in legal fees” because both Seele and Apple would not hesitate to take legal action. Even after repeated explanations of how I came into possession of the step, he continued to mitigate for Apple and attempt to make the point that it was Appleʼs position that since I was on Apple payroll as an employee (part-time, non-exempt, off the clock, out of uniform), that requesting the step was on par with giving a direct order to the contractor. That, if you will pardon my language, is bullshit. I donʼt buy it. He proceeded to assure me that Apple would take the position that anything that began in its stores is Appleʼs property. Frankly, Apple can take any stance they like, it doesn't change the facts.

This man then attempted to convince me that if I were to move forward with not relinquishing the step, that it would be my responsibility in a court of law to prove that I had not stolen it. This, again, is bullshit. In the United States, we are innocent until proven guilty. If Apple would like to attempt to prove that I managed to wrestle a 250lb step from the five very large men handling it, then they are on the good drugs, and I want to know where I can get some.

What this sounds like to me is Seele trying to save face because Apple is furious that they were irresponsible enough to relinquish ownership of the tread. Though it may be embarrassing for both corporations, it may simply be a lesson learned at a high price. Let me put it this way: If you caught a foul ball at a World Series game, got it signed by a player, received a high five from the security guard on the way out of the stadium, and went home, that ball is now yours, right? It started as one entityʼs property, and through a series of consensual transactions, it ended up in your hands. Now, letʼs say a year and a half later, the player who signed it is huge, and you decide to put it up for auction. If the MLB reached out to you and said, “Hey! No way, buddy. That was OURS. Hand it over!” Guess what? That wouldn't fly.

The next day, we spoke once more over the phone. Again, I heard the same points from the man, but this time I did not take a passive approach. I made it quite clear that if he wanted the step, heʼs more than welcome to purchase it from me, or participate in the eBay auction. He made me an offer lower than the most recent bid on the auction, and I declined. At this point, Iʼve lost time and money due to dealing with this. Not to mention, now that the step has seen some press, the demand is growing. (Iʼve been receiving eBay messages all the way up until this morning.) He assured me if I did not comply, my information would be forwarded to Apple, and the conversation ended.

As far as Iʼm aware, I have done nothing illegal. I have not stolen. I have not deceived in any way. The step is not confidential, and it is not IP. The step is the very same that any New Yorker could see by walking into Apple Fifth Ave. The only thing I am guilty of is taking the risk of throwing out my back through having to move the step multiple times. I saw an opportunity, I asked for permission, received it, and proceeded. I wonʼt allow a major corporation to bully me into a corner. At the time of this posting, it has been seven full days since I put the listing up, and I havenʼt heard from Apple directly a single time. I have every right to sell my property, and I plan to do so.

Hereʼs what Iʼm going to do. Iʼve put the tread back up for auction, but have shortened the auction period from 10 days to 3, starting at the same $200 price point and Iʼm dropping the buy-it-now option. I just want to get rid of this thing. If it sells for a lot, great. If it sells for a little, whatever. Either way, Iʼll keep you posted if I hear from Apple or on any other developments.

I realize this has been long-winded, but it was important to me to share this. I just donʼt think itʼs right for corporations to take cases that might otherwise be passed off as trivial and turn them into a week-long ordeal, all for the sake of paranoia. If youʼve read through all this, thank you. I appreciate your attention and time.

So You Want To Build A Website?

Source: So You Want To Build A Website?

Sponsor: Sell on eBay

Introduction

When I decided I needed a website for my business I had no idea of the planning involved. Like most people, I thought web design meant deciding on the graphics and the look of the pages and then by some magic it would all happen.I simply hadn’t had any exposure to the planning and build process which I now know to be extensive!

I have a friend who is in the business of SEO web design and website development so I approached him for a quote. As a complete novice who is computer literate up to a point, I was amazed at the depth of initial questioning required to find out exactly what my requirements were.

I had no idea about the various elements and the structure of the site and I found it mind blowing when I learnt about the amount of work involved. So I thought other people would be interested to know more about this complicated process particularly if you consider yourself a non computer person and have to get a website built. I have asked my SEO friend to supply the technical information for this article. In case you are wondering ‘SEO’ stands for search engine optimisation, and refers to the practise of getting your website ranked as close to the top of the results for a particular search term in a search engine. You see you’re learning already!

Stages in the Process

Target Audience

Before building a website there are important questions to consider. I was asked who would be my target audience. Who are my customers likely to be? Would they be children, businesses, home owners, sales people, parents or teenagers and so on? If you are not clear on your target audience then you are not going to be able to set the tone of the site correctly so this is a very important consideration.

The Objective of the Website

Then I was asked, what was the objective of my website? Did I want to sell services on line or use it to market my business and get more leads for potential customers? Maybe I would want to use the site as an online brochure to showcase my services. Another possibility was to use the website to foster a community so that I was in contact with other like-minded people, with chat rooms, online discussions and being supported by advertising on the site. This didn’t really apply to my business, although I did think about offering to advertise allied services!

I hadn’t quite realised the scope of a website but as I was asked these questions it became clear that a lot of careful thought went into the preparation before building a website.

Creating a Site Map

The importance of creating a site map is to get it clear in your mind of all the pages you will have on your website so you can prepare the content for each page and begin to design the flow through the website, such as when a user adds a product to their basket, then enters their delivery and billing address and makes the credit card payment in the correct order.

A sitemap is basically your blueprints or technical drawings from which all the other elements of building the site will stand, such as planning the navigation, SEO, copy writing and the flow through the site.

The aim is to make the site as simple to use as possible so that there are no barriers to getting into the website or making a purchase. For that reason often user name and passwords are set for the customer so that they are not put off making a purchase by having to register. How many times have you gone to buy something online and then been faced with having to choose a user name and password to create an account, and fill out all of your address details and decided not to bother in the end? Well they just lost a sale!

For a non e-commerce site things are simpler with a contact form which allows you to receive enquiries by email without publishing your email address on the website, thus avoiding junk email.Web forms can also validate the information before you receive it, so ensuring that the phone number provided does not contain words, and that the email address is in the correct format, for example. These things may sound very technical to us lay-folk but I assure you everything has to be decided on before starting on the construction of the site.

Your Domain Name

Choosing a domain name is often quite a challenge because every name you initially come up with will almost certainly have been taken. Domain names ending in .com are by far the most popular and internationally recognised; the snag is that it’s very popularity means that the majority of the shorter names have probably already been registered. However, you can usually think of some domain name that is available, which is much less time consuming than trying to purchase a previously registered domain name from its existing owner, most of the time just contacting them, and getting a reply is a challenge.

So looking at names with endings such as .net; .org .co.uk or .info may be able to provide you with the domain name you want. When choosing your domain name it is very important to include one or more of your keywords if possible as this can apparently help with search engine rankings. So although the name of your business is the obvious choice for a domain name, it is not necessarily the only option.

Copy

The next stage is preparing the content. This is not the design of your website – just the words and visuals you want to have one each of the pages.

Having gathered all the previous information you will need to decide what imagery you want to use within the website content. As we all know, a picture speaks a thousand words and remains in people’s memory far longer than just words.

For each image you could also have a caption, as the caption of an image is the next ‘most read’ words on the page after the page title. Images and their captions need to be clickable. When you click on a picture it should take you to the next stage of the process such as the sale page or placing an enquiry if your website is for lead generation. All images should also have alternative text or alt tags. Alt tags will display the hover text when you position your mouse over the picture, but also they are used by screen readers to assist visually impaired users know what the image is about. See the section below on Accessibility and Compliance.

Website Design

Finally we come to the design of your website.

I asked my friend in web design to comment about this and he says it is one of the most difficult stages of the process because it’s so subjective.

There are a number of ways to approach web design but ultimately you need to create a design brief for the designer(s) to work from. Look at other websites and your competitor’s websites to find out what you like or dislike. The design brief should give reference to the logo, any existing brand guidelines or schemes and fonts and colour schemes, and should also detail which pages of the website that the designer is being tasked with creating visuals for. See the Sitemap section below.

The very best results will be achieved by using a graphic designer, and beware – not all graphic designers are the same. A graphic designer who designs specifically for print is working in a different discipline than a graphic designer who designs for screen and specifically the web. So choose your designer carefully, look at other work that person has done and determine whether or not you like their style.

If you are working in the big time and budget allows, use multiple graphic designers who have all been given the same design brief and request three concept designs from each designer. If the client themselves also do a graphic design, even if it’s a back of the envelope scribble, you will then have 10 concept designs. The next step is to get them all together and select the preferred elements from each design. Then give the work to the selected graphic designer to work up as the final artwork. Once you have reviewed the final visuals the artwork files will then be provided to the developer, usually in layered Photoshop files.

The artwork should be finalised and agreed on by everybody before construction of the site begins. Otherwise it can lead to costly and time consuming changes and frustration for both the developer and the client.

Navigation

Another important consideration when building a website is how you want your navigation to work. You can have links within the content of your website, in the text, so there are not just links from the menu. You will need to decide whether the links will open into a new window, retaining your original page open or just change the page to the one clicked on. Next time you go online, you will realise how much thought has gone into the way in which a website works. You will may also have some ideas for improving how some of them work after reading all of this!

Production

Finally the preparation has been done and the site is ready to be built. Now for the more technical stuff! You will need to have decided which programming language to use to build the website. There are two main types for developing a website, one is Unix based, and the other is Windows based. Each one has advantages and disadvantages. If you are starting from scratch then it probably won’t matter, so you can go with the preference of your professional doing the work. My website is built on the Unix platform (apparently!) which is the same as many of the more well known websites such as Ebay, Facebook, Google and Amazon. Also your website hosting must be compatible with the development language with which your website is built.

Work In Progress

The best way to build a website and be able to monitor work in progress is on the web server where the site is ultimately going to live. This way, those involved in reviewing the work can see work in progress and provide feedback throughout the development process.

Launching Your New Website

The moment of excitement comes when your site finally goes live and you see the results of all the thought that has gone into the whole process.

Having put in many hours rewriting mission statements and demolition legislation texts for our demolitions website I was thrilled when the site eventually went live.

As soon as the site has gone live there is no substitute for real world testing though, so ask as many of your friends and colleagues to view the website from their own offices and give you their thoughts.

Accessibility and Compliance

The website has to meet the current standards for website coding and doing so insures that disabled users, such as the visually impaired, can still access the entire website if they are using a screen reader. It is also a good idea to also discuss conformance moving forward, particularly if you have a web content management system, because and accessible of compliant site may become un-accessible after six months of being edited by you if you do not add or edit the website content in an accessible manner.

Unforeseen Items

There are always things that arise in any project which you suddenly realise you have forgotten, so no matter how well the web designer prepares and asks the right questions, there is bound to be a last minute change of mind or addition to the site. The main aim is to minimise the number of glitches that might arise because they aren’t calculated in at the start and they could cause extra costs and delays on the date of the website going live.As a general rule it is always a good idea to get he site live to the original plans and then look at an update after it has gone live, unless it is a very small deviation from the initial plans.

Reporting and Monitoring

Once your website is up and running, you will want to know how many people visit your website and from that number how many actually buy the products or place an enquiry. From these statistics you can work out the ratio of visits to sales and gradually make changes to improve the ratios. There are some reliable statistics packages such as Google Analytics or Web-Stat.com which allow you to collect and review website visitor data in near real time. All you need to do this is to have a small block of code inserted into each web page on your site.

Another useful service that Web-stat.com provides is to monitor the website and warn you by email or text message if the site is offline.

Marketing

Once the website is live there are lots of things you can do to market your product or service. The first step is to submit it to the search engines and at the same time write articles, and press releases. Getting links to the site from forums, blogs and other social networking spaces are other options. For more on this subject ask your developer about SEO, remember that’s search engine optimisation.

How to be Found on the Web

One of the first questions I was asked was, ‘Do you want it to be found by Google the main search engine?’ If I did then there was a whole process of establishing Keywords. So finding the best keywords are vital if you want to be found in Google. He says there are two main types of keywords. The first is the trophy, or generic, keyword for the industry which in my industry is simply ‘demolition’. The second kind of keyword is the long tail keyword. These are not searched for as frequently but if you can get a match then they are much more likely to convert into customers. A good example of this in my industry is ‘factory demolition company Derby’. So it is very important to do a lot of research on keywords to find both those that are the most popular and the most specific. Generally most users only look at the top ten results so you will want to get your website promoted so as to get on this page for your chosen keywords. By using a keyword research tool such as the keyword lookup in the Google Web Master Tools kit you can find the single most popular keyword for your industry.

Conclusion

Wheww. What an amazing amount of work! I hadn’t realised when I started the process of getting a website up and running, how complicated it all is and how many factors you have to consider before even designing the website. The word web design is really a misnomer, as people often think it’s just about the graphic design on the home page, and the branding of the product. Unless you are a computer whizz, most people have no idea how much goes into designing and building a website and the systems that support the work you want it to do. I hope that this article gives you an understanding and insight into the whole process of website development from start to finish.Next time you type in a web address or click on a link to a website, remember all the above work that has probably gone into it!

Consignment Business – eBay and Online Business

How To Sell On Ebay

What people must know right at this very moment is that there are real careers on the internet and it is not at all that risky to get one. Despite the high occurrence of online scams, there are still great money making opportunities that can be done in the internet. Among these is make money online with Google AdSense.

Although Google has other online opportunities available for its techno-savvy users who want to work online, it is safe to say the AdSense is the easiest and most rewarding. And many people are recommending it to their friends and families, too. This is probably because of the uncomplicated nature of earning with AdSense.

Basically, what people do with AdSense is that they sign up for a Google AdSense account, set up a website, find related advertisements that can be posted in that website, and wait for people to click on the ads. The click-through's are automatically registered to Google statistics. Though each click will only amount to a couple of centavos, multiple clicks per day (let's say 200 clicks per day multiplied by 30 days multiplied by 12 months) will amount to a big pay check from Google.

What is left for the website owner to do is to provide SEO tools in order to make the website rank higher in search engine results. Also, once people are tuned in to the site, the owner may start looking for other niche markets that can be tapped and that need a website where you can post a couple more ads. This is where you can make money online with Google. Say you started with a website about American History, then you noticed that many people are interested in the background of different US presidents. It is a good move to actually make a website dedicated to US presidents alone, and to post ads there about the presidents of the United States.

Also, aside from doing SEO manipulations, the owner of the website must update his website content regularly in order to make people go back to the site once they find it interesting. Regularly updating the website content will ensure the followers that the owner is doing something to provide fresh content for them and the end effect of this is the continual support for your website.

Also, updating content enables web crawlers to keep on considering and browsing your page every time there is a person who types in a keyword that is related to yours. Remember that the more outdated your information is, the less likely will your website appear in the upper portion of Google search results.

One thing that must be reminded to people who want to make money online with Google AdSense clients is that their domain name or their website must have been active for the last 6 months prior to joining AdSense. It must also contain predominantly original content and that it must be interesting to a great number of internet users. These Google guidelines are basically for your own good as well so do not frown upon the standards set by the company.

It's funny how a few years ago money was not hard to come by! I was a successful business woman climbing the corporate ladder with dreams of reaching a salary in the six digits. Fortunately, about a year and a half ago I was blessed with triplets. I knew that this would not only change my lifestyle, but it would also change my bank account.

Although I am qualified to work at many positions, I calculated that by the time I added in daycare expeses and travel for three kids, working outside of the home would not be beneficial to me or my family. I immediately started researching ways to make or save money on the internet.

Like many work at home moms, there is that satisfaction involved in being able to “do it all”. Although I cannot provide a whole salary for a family of five, I have found plenty of ways to earn incentives and free items on the internet. This search also has allowed me to work with various companies and earn a few dollars here and there.

With one simple search through google (on free items), I was directed to two of my favorite websites. Fatwallet.com and Slickdeals.net have created less stressful times, especially during the holiday season. These two websites, particularly, are forums that categorize things such as “freebies”, “contests”, “finances”, “hot deals”, “deal discussions”, etc. My foremost favorite is the freebie section of these sites.

On these sites people will post free items or samples they found (from major companies), while searching the internet. How do I know they are legit? Trust me; people will let you know if they are a scam by ratings they will leave on the poster. Many of the posters are intelligent people, like you or I, that are experiencing financial difficulty for one reason or another. On average I receive about 5-10 free items in the mail, daily. Needless to say, my mailman probably hates me, but my wallet loves me! I have enough household products such as toothpaste, lotion, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, etc. to last me a year. Although some are sample trials, they sure add up! I have also made a few dollars and scored several gift cards from major retailers for completing company surveys or doing product reviews. These are opportunities I found on these two websites, as well.

Mentioned above, I have found many freebies, but from these sites I also found many coupons saving me plenty of money along with many opportunities to buy items and get full rebates back. Can anybody say “EBAY”. Yes, you heard it right! Some of these deals were too good to pass up due to the fact that I was able to re-sell them on Ebay for a nice little profit. I have actually received many products for free with usage of various coupon and rebate codes found on these websites. Some of the best freebies I have received were 5 playtex bras valued at $30 a piece, several $5-10 gift cards from starbucks, target, walmart, etc. These are items one can use, save for presents, or resell for a profit. I also have received $80 toothbrushes from testing companies, free dinners, …and the list goes on and on.

Lastly, there are sections on these sites for contests and sweepstakes. There are many listed, however, I steer more towards the instant win prizes. I have already won over $300 dollars in gift cards, a few board games, free food items from various restaurant chains, movies/dvds, traveling miles, i-tune codes, movie passes, and straight up cash!

I have heard several times that there is plenty of money to make on the internet, but never wanted, or shall I say, “needed” to explore those options. I would consider myselft a “newbie” to the money making opportunities on the internet, but I have to say that I had a great year exploring and have saved/made quite a few dollars. If you are a stay at home mom or just plainly need to save and make a few bucks, I highly recommend these two sites to start from. I have learned all about scams from the 'posters' on these boards, and also have broadened my knowledge on various money making opportunities on the Internet.

making money posting links on google

At first, the Erin Andrews peephole video was being used to satisfy the urges of voyeurs. Andrews' lawyers quickly went on the offensive and made it clear that the those responsible for filming and posting the Erin Andrews peephole video would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. But now the Erin Andrews peephole video is being used for malicious purposes. According to USA Today, sophos.com is claiming that the Erin Andrews peephole video is being used to spread a computer virus. Reportedly, web pages with links to the video are booby trapped with viruses that can infect computers and wreak havoc.

The Erin Andrews peephole video has become something of an Internet phenomenon. It all started when someone filmed the attractive sportsreporter undressing in a hotel room (it was reportedly done through a peephole without her knowledge or consent) and uploaded the Erin Andrews peephole video onto the Web.

Immediately, reporters and bloggers jumped on the story and many were quick to point out that this was a case of voyeurism pure and simple and that voyeurism is not only considered by most people to be an act of decadence and perversion, but it is also illegal in many states.

But the Erin Andrews peephole video phenomenon just refused to go away. For days now, it has been one of the most popular search topics on Google. In other words, those desperate to see the video have been typing phrases such as “Erin Andrews peephole video rapidhare,” “Erin Andrews peephole video cache, ” and “Erin Andrews sexy pictures” into Google and other search engines.

There are a number of interesting dimension to this story. Clearly, the story has expanded the profile of Erin Andrews tremendously and may indeed end up being a boon to her career (she already was something of a cult figure among many male sports fans; many are, quite frankly, obsessed with her).

It has gotten to the point where some may no longer feel bad that Andrews' privacy was so egregiously violated, in fact. In other words, many are no doubt beginning to think that the story has been a blessing in disguise. After all, there must be countless people who just a few days ago did not know Erin Andrews from Adam, but can now practically recite her life story.

And what about those voyeurs who expected to click on a link taking them to the Erin Andrews peephole video, and, instead, got their computers infected with a virus?

If that did indeed happen, some would consider it to be poetic justice.

Don't Allow Your Kids to Be Exposed to Cyber Stalkers & Ensure Your Systems Are Fully Secured
By Riley McBride

More and more windows users are getting struck by computer virus after ever more advanced computer virus. Some are relatively harmless, others are a serious security risk. Some have the potential to severely compromise your identity, stealing your bank details, email passwords and an other personal data you have ling around on your hard drive.

There are now, quite commonly, Trojans which will install themselves simply by the act of you visiting a web site. You never knew anything untoward was happening but these little beasties silently take a hold of your machine. It's scary, yes, but you can fight back. You need to educate yourself as to the dangers and solutions. This is a pain for most people but it's a must.

It's kind of analogous to driving a car. Most of us need lessons before we can safely navigate the highways. Well the Internet is very similar and the threats are very real. One of the best pieces of advice ever given to me was to not be scared of the web and computers in general. They are only machines and you have the final say. The Internet is only a whole bunch of machines wired up together. Still, they're stupid machines.

So just remember when you're tearing your hair out at one in the morning because something won't work, that you will always be able to solve the problem by learning how to do stuff. Google and the other engines are all you need to locate the info you're looking for to secure up your machine.

What I like about Symantec Norton Internet Security 2009:

Symantec Norton Internet Security 2009 has a high detection rate, as high as Kapersky, and higher than some other services.

The purchase, download, installation and configuration is easy and quick. Helpful tutorials at start up assist you with configuring your features and preferences.

There are so many features to protect your computer! My personal favorites include: the identity theft protection, spyware, anti phishing, adware detection, web browsing and image protection, as well as the parental controls. Others may like the user name, password and credit card storing and protection.

Easy to read tool bars indicate that it is working in the background.

Website danger notification including the ability to provide “approval” or “disapproval” of websites before you visit them. The identity theft protection utilizes not only the firewall, and spyware protection but also a storage system for log ins, passwords and credit card numbers eliminating the need to store them anywhere else and allows for ease of use.

The cost of is reasonable at $69.99. A two year download for is available for a discounted price of $114.99. This download is available for up to three computers in your home.

What I Hate about Symantec Norton Internet Security 2009:

Norton Internet Security suite causes my system to run slower than syrup. I need my systems, windows, programs and the internet all the time for both quickly and easily, for personal and professional use. On a regular basis this antivirus program made the computer run so slowly that I am unable to start my computer in the morning in less than 6 minutes. Throughout the day the drag on the computer causes Internet Explorer and other systems to “not respond” as they time out prior to be able to load as Norton operating in the background causes it all to work that much slower.

You have to pay for customer support, unless you are calling in for help. At purchase they attempt to sell you the on-line support. You would think that for what you pay for the service you could at least get free customer support. Not everyone is born with a hard drive for a brain and this may keep some people from investing in a quality antivirus system.

The more I use Symantec Norton Internet Security 2009 the less I like it. Whenever I try to use my computer a high level of frustration occurs as well as an inability to complete most tasks that prior to installation I was able to complete quickly and efficiently.

Bottom Line

This is an excellent protection system as long as you only do one thing at a time. If you are someone who does not depend highly on your computer for personal or professional use then the protection offered here is excellent, and you may not mind the slowness. Those who only do a little emailing and shopping or reading on-line may want to consider this antivirus service.

However, not many people use their computer that way. Most of us are streaming videos, music, meeting or conferencing on-line, retrieving data, presentations, seminars as well as using it for communication and website services. After weeks of the slowness of my system, I uninstalled Symantec Norton Internet Security Suite 2009. The last straw was an entire day wasted – hours at a time – I attempted to use my computer for more than one thing at a time. In my case, the advantages of this system don't outweigh the disadvantages. I will continue to look for an all in one service package, that provides all the features of Norton, for more than one computer, and doesn't limit my ability to work or play.

Symantec Norton Internet Security 2009 may be just right for computer users who are generally just surfing, shopping and using e-mail and want dependable anti-virus, phishing, spyware and identity theft protection; but it is not the best choice in anti- virus security protection for the business, professional or multi-tasking user.

Top Blog: How to Rank High in Google Organic Search

To be successful online you actually have to understand what you are doing.  I do not mean to assert that it is so difficult but like everything, once you understand what you’ve got to do and how to do it, then it is simple.

There is a massive amount of information online to tell you a way to start to earn money on the internet.  The issue is what do you trust.  All too frequently the people trying to sell you some “secret” are just after you cash and the product they have for sale is basic or possibly meaningless.

You can naturally, teach yourself and many well off folk have followed this strategy.  By random test they at last hit on some technique or system that starts to work and produces revenue.  That is fine if you’re successful in a short period of time but what if it takes you five years?

By some way the best method of becoming successful is to look for the best internet marketing course you will find.  Study the info and use it yourself.  There are numerous available.  Some are horrendously expensive.  I know of one that costs many thousands of bucks and yet there is a waiting list to get on it.

When selecting your course do consider what format it is in.  I myself get tired trying to read pages and pages of lifeless text, particularly on a PC screen.  With a printed page at least you can make notes and highlight areas of interest.

One system that is now available is online video.  I think about this to be probably the best methodology since you can actually see the process being explained.  Where to click, what to enter in the box, the easiest way to view the results.  Many steps like these remain unexplained when you depend on released pages of information.

internet marketing seems to be unaffected by the present business Problems and actually seems to be continuing with its dramatic expansion.  Earning $500 or $1000 a day is unremarkable among those who understand the markets and how to exploit them.

Luckily there’s a new site that reviews lots of the top courses, and they have been in a position to get their hands on some great deals for their members too.   IM Cash Saver has been able to get up to 60% off some of the service and goods mentioned on their site and if you are looking for an internet marketing course to help steer you then you should head over there and have a look.
